Mediterranean — very hot dry summers, mild wet winters

Athens has a classic Mediterranean climate but is notably hotter and drier than coastal Greek islands due to its inland location in the Attica basin surrounded by mountains. Summers are among the hottest in Europe; winters are mild and pleasant.

Bloomington is Indiana University's home city in the Hoosier National Forest hills of south-central Indiana. The limestone karst terrain creates unique drainage patterns and the wooded hills provide more moderation than flat northern Indiana. The city sees less lake effect than northern cities but can still experience significant ice storms.
