Mediterranean-influenced humid subtropical — warm summers, cool wet winters

Istanbul straddles two continents with a climate to match. The Bosphorus creates a persistent wind corridor that moderates summer heat. Winters are cold and rainy with occasional snow. Spring and fall are exceptional.

Olympia at the southern tip of Puget Sound is Washington's capital and the Evergreen State College's city. The South Sound position means the marine layer is somewhat weaker than central Puget Sound communities, but Olympia is still firmly Pacific Northwest with abundant rainfall and mild temperatures. The Deschutes River and Percival Cove provide water features.
