Lima has the world's most paradoxical coastal desert climate. Despite being a tropical latitude, it rarely gets rain due to the cold Humboldt Current offshore. Summers (December–April) are sunny and warm; winters (June–October) are blanketed in garúa — a thick grey mist with drizzle that rarely lifts.

Manchester is New Hampshire's largest city on the Merrimack River with a humid continental climate. Positioned between the White Mountains to the north and the Atlantic coast to the southeast, it receives weather from both directions. The Merrimack River valley creates cold air pooling and fog while nor'easters bring significant snow.
