Desert — unique foggy grey winters, warm sunny summers, almost no rain

Lima has the world's most paradoxical coastal desert climate. Despite being a tropical latitude, it rarely gets rain due to the cold Humboldt Current offshore. Summers (December–April) are sunny and warm; winters (June–October) are blanketed in garúa — a thick grey mist with drizzle that rarely lifts.

Memphis on the Mississippi River bluffs has one of Tennessee's hottest climates, with Gulf moisture arriving from the south and the massive river adding humidity. Summer heat index values regularly exceed 105°F and the flat terrain around the city provides no cooling relief. The city's blues and BBQ cultures both emerged partly from the need for shade and cold beverages.
