Desert — unique foggy grey winters, warm sunny summers, almost no rain

Lima has the world's most paradoxical coastal desert climate. Despite being a tropical latitude, it rarely gets rain due to the cold Humboldt Current offshore. Summers (December–April) are sunny and warm; winters (June–October) are blanketed in garúa — a thick grey mist with drizzle that rarely lifts.

Mesa is Arizona's third-largest city and part of the Phoenix metro heat bubble. Its eastern valley position has historically had more agricultural land which slightly buffered the heat island, but rapid development has erased much of that moderating influence. Monsoon thunderstorms from the southeast approach Mesa first in the valley.
