Desert — unique foggy grey winters, warm sunny summers, almost no rain

Lima has the world's most paradoxical coastal desert climate. Despite being a tropical latitude, it rarely gets rain due to the cold Humboldt Current offshore. Summers (December–April) are sunny and warm; winters (June–October) are blanketed in garúa — a thick grey mist with drizzle that rarely lifts.

Philadelphia in the Delaware River valley has a humid subtropical climate transitioning to continental. The city's urban heat island is intense — dense rowhouse neighborhoods without significant green space are among the East Coast's most heat-vulnerable. The Delaware and Schuylkill Rivers provide some humidity while the Piedmont hills to the north create varied terrain.
