Desert — unique foggy grey winters, warm sunny summers, almost no rain

Lima has the world's most paradoxical coastal desert climate. Despite being a tropical latitude, it rarely gets rain due to the cold Humboldt Current offshore. Summers (December–April) are sunny and warm; winters (June–October) are blanketed in garúa — a thick grey mist with drizzle that rarely lifts.

Portland is Maine's largest city on Casco Bay, with a maritime New England climate. The Atlantic provides moderation but Portland still experiences full nor'easter potential with heavy snow and powerful ocean storms. The Old Port's waterfront cobblestones and Victorian commercial blocks create a beautiful but exposed coastal setting. Summers are famously pleasant and increasingly popular.
