Lima has the world's most paradoxical coastal desert climate. Despite being a tropical latitude, it rarely gets rain due to the cold Humboldt Current offshore. Summers (December–April) are sunny and warm; winters (June–October) are blanketed in garúa — a thick grey mist with drizzle that rarely lifts.

Pune sits on the Deccan Plateau at an elevation of roughly 560 meters, nestled between the Sahyadri (Western Ghats) mountain range to its west and rolling plateau terrain to the east. The city's climate is shaped by the monsoon shadow effect — western neighborhoods closer to the Ghats receive significantly heavier rainfall than the drier eastern suburbs. Winters are cool and dry with morning fog in river valleys, while pre-monsoon summers are hot but moderated compared to lowland cities thanks to Pune's elevation.
