New York City has four distinct seasons. Fall is the sweet spot: mild temps, low humidity, and the city at peak energy. Summers are hot and muggy; winters bring snow and bitter wind chill, especially near the waterfront.

Gainesville in north-central Florida is UF's college town with a more varied climate than coastal Florida. Far enough inland to see genuine winter cool snaps and far enough north to occasionally experience frost. The Paynes Prairie basin south of the city collects cold air creating unique frost pockets while the city proper sees moist subtropical conditions.
