🇺🇸 Olympia vs 🇺🇸 San Francisco

Olympia at the southern tip of Puget Sound is Washington's capital and the Evergreen State College's city. The South Sound position means the marine layer is somewhat weaker than central Puget Sound communities, but Olympia is still firmly Pacific Northwest with abundant rainfall and mild temperatures. The Deschutes River and Percival Cove provide water features.

San Francisco's climate is shaped by its position on a peninsula surrounded by the Pacific Ocean and San Francisco Bay. The coastal fog (Karl the Fog) rolls in through the Golden Gate each summer afternoon, keeping temperatures mild year-round. The city has dramatically different microclimates — the Sunset District fog-bound while the Mission basks in sun on the same day.
