Berlin Weather in August

Berlin's continental climate is moderated by its extensive network of rivers, lakes, and urban forests that cover nearly a third of the city's area. The flat glacial landscape of the North European Plain means wind flows largely unimpeded across the city, but dense inner-city districts create significant urban heat islands while the surrounding forests and waterways of the Havel and Spree rivers provide notable cooling corridors. Winters can be harsh with cold easterly winds from the Eurasian steppe, while summers bring increasing heat extremes that are amplified in the heavily built-up central districts.
