About Tai Po in May
Tai Po's position at the head of Tolo Harbour and the base of Pat Sin Leng range gives it exposure to channelled northeast monsoon winds that funnel down the harbour in winter, producing wind chill effects unusual for subtropical Hong Kong. The surrounding forested hills generate orographic rainfall that makes Tai Po one of the wetter districts during the summer monsoon.
