HITEC City's rapid transformation from scrubland to a dense glass-and-steel tech corridor has created a pronounced urban heat island where reflected solar radiation and waste heat from air-conditioned towers raise daytime temperatures 2–3°C above surrounding areas. The flat, open terrain to the west channels gusty winds during monsoon season, but the canyon effect between tall towers creates uncomfortable wind tunnels at street level.
