Juneau is one of the wettest state capitals in America, averaging over 90 inches of precipitation annually. The city is hemmed between Gastineau Channel and mountains rising to over 4,000 feet, creating a coastal rainforest microclimate. Fog, rain, and low clouds dominate much of the year.
