Lyari's extremely dense low-rise residential fabric and narrow lanes severely restrict airflow, trapping heat and creating some of Karachi's highest nighttime temperatures. The Lyari River corridor, though largely degraded, provides a marginal wind channel that draws occasional sea breezes into this otherwise stifling inner-city neighborhood.
