Parco Sempione, Milan's largest central green space, acts as a significant cooling lung — temperatures within and immediately adjacent to the park measure 2–4°C below the surrounding Corso Sempione and Arco della Pace boulevards on summer afternoons. The park's open expanse also serves as one of the few areas in central Milan where fog can form at ground level due to radiative cooling on still winter nights.
