Izmaylovo is dominated by its enormous namesake park and forest — over 1,500 hectares — which acts as Moscow's eastern green lung, substantially lowering summer temperatures and raising humidity within and around its boundaries. The forest mass also moderates winter wind chill by blocking easterly winds that sweep across the flat terrain from the open plains beyond the city.
