Nashville in the Nashville Basin is Music City with a humid subtropical climate that defines the classic Southern city experience. The Cumberland River winds through the city creating humidity and flooding risk — catastrophic flooding in 2010 inundated the city. The Appalachian foothills to the east create some terrain variety while Nashville sits in a basin that traps heat.
