Troja's deep river valley position between steep vineyard-covered slopes creates a sheltered microclimate historically exploited for viticulture. The valley traps warm air during calm conditions making it one of Prague's mildest spots, but the same topography concentrates cold air drainage in winter and makes Troja exceptionally frost-prone on clear nights.
