Reno Weather in September

Reno at 4,500 feet in the Truckee Meadows is the 'Biggest Little City in the World' with a high desert climate. The Sierra Nevada just to the west creates a dramatic rain shadow — Reno averages only 7 inches of precipitation annually while Lake Tahoe 35 miles away gets 400+ inches of snow. Summer is hot and dry while Sierra snowpack dominates winter precipitation.
