Eunpyeong-gu's location in a broad valley opening toward Bukhansan National Park gives it some of Seoul's best natural ventilation as mountain air flows down through the Bulgwangcheon stream corridor. However, this same topography funnels cold Siberian air in winter, and the district frequently records temperatures 2–3°C below the Han River corridor.
