Mapo-gu's position along the Han River's north bank gives Hapjeong and Mangwon neighborhoods measurable cooling from river breezes, but the elevated Mapo commercial district inland sees less benefit. The wide Gyeongui Line Forest Park acts as a green wind corridor channeling air from the river northward into otherwise dense residential blocks.
