Sioux Falls Weather in September

Sioux Falls on the Big Sioux River is South Dakota's largest city with a continental climate typical of the northern Great Plains. The famous quartzite Falls Park waterfall in the center of the city is a geological marvel where the river drops over pink Sioux quartzite. Winters are cold with blizzards arriving from the northwest.

Excellent shoulder season — warm with fewer tourists in many destinations.
