Wieden is one of Vienna's smallest and most densely built districts, where tall 19th-century apartment blocks create deep street canyons that trap heat and limit ventilation. Proximity to the Karlsplatz open space and the Naschmarkt corridor provides localized relief, but the district consistently records some of the city's highest overnight minimum temperatures.
