Bangkok's tropical savanna climate delivers three distinct seasons: a hot season from March to May with temperatures above 35°C and suffocating humidity, a wet season from June to October driven by the Southwest Monsoon with daily heavy downpours, and a cooler dry season from November to February that attracts most tourists. The city sits on a flat delta plain barely 1.5 meters above sea level, making it highly flood-prone during monsoon season. Bangkok's massive urban heat island is among Asia's most intense, with the river and canals providing the only meaningful natural cooling.

Bangkok is hot every month. The dry, cool season (November–February) is the premier travel window with low humidity and manageable temperatures. The monsoon (May–October) brings flooding and intense heat. March–April (pre-monsoon) is the hottest and most uncomfortable period.
