The Humboldt Current off Peru's coast is so cold (59–64°F) that it cools onshore air below its dew point, creating perpetual low cloud and garúa (mist) from May through November. Temperatures are remarkably stable at 60–80°F year-round. Coastal districts live under near-constant cloud while hilltop and inland districts occasionally break through the marine layer into full sunshine.
